Hi, I'm Amanda!
I have worked as a Registered Nurse with patients at the bedside, on a Medical-Surgical unit for the past ten years.
Recognizing numerous flaws in our healthcare system, and wanting more for patients, I found myself on different committees advocating for more.
I am a proud mother of two girls and married to my best friend. I enjoy time with my family, camping, gardening, traveling, researching, learning new things, and teaching. For as long as I can remember, I have enjoyed helping others.
It wasn’t until our oldest daughter’s “normal” childhood GI issues led to more days than not of tummy aches, several missed days of school and an emergent ER visit, that I had ever considered alternative healthcare options.
Being a nurse, my background and knowledge in homeopathy and supporting the body’s natural processes was minimal to say the least.
Our journey started with a wonderful chiropractor who gave my daughter instant relief – he did not cure or heal her. He was able to help my daughter stop feeling crummy every day. Without any medications. This chiropractor was the beginning of our daughter’s healing journey.
The tools he utilized – adjustments, education and support. The beginning stages were long and hard, as nobody can begin to truly heal until removing the contributing factor(s). Not just our daughter, but the whole family made several lifestyle changes.
The more I learned, the more changes we implemented.
Healing is a process that takes time.
As my family and I pursued a more holistic and natural approach,We noticed things like the "flu bug" or "stomach bug" were occurring less often, for shorter periods of time, and bouncing back much quicker.
I found myself increasingly dissatisfied with the limitations of our current healthcare system.
One of my favorite chiropractors shared an insightful observation with me. She pointed out that various healthcare professionals possess a unique set of tools in their toolbox to address patient needs. For instance, medical doctors rely on medications, surgeons utilize surgical procedures, naturopaths rely on the body’s innate healing capacity and natural treatments to assist the body as necessary and chiropractors utilize adjustments to restore the body to its optimal alignment, promoting its natural function.
While pharmaceuticals have their place in treatment, they are not always the most effective or only option available. This perspective particularly struck a chord with me.
I knew there was another opportunity out there waiting for me. Uncertain about what this new path would entail or where to find it, I trusted that God would open the right doors when the time was right.
Eventually, I discovered The Transformative Nurse Coach Collective through repeated appearances on my social media feed. Unfamiliar with the concept of Nurse Coaching, I hesitated initially as “coaching” just didn’t sound like me. Nevertheless, recognizing its relevance to my goal of holistic care, I decided to explore this field further. Enrolling in the program had a profound impact on me, as it nurtured my passion for Nurse Coaching almost immediately.
One of our initial challenges was to shift our mindset.
Nurse Coaches see their clients as whole and complete individuals, instead of broken and needing to be fixed. This is why Nurse Coaches refer to the individuals they serve as “clients” and not “patients.” Nurse Coaches understand that each client is the expert in their own health.
Not the other way around.
When we honor and respect an individuals innate capacity for strength, creativity, resilience, and wellbeing, it allows the individual to see themselves in a new light. It empowers individuals to make real meaningful change. A concept I learned, and later experienced first hand.
One of the most impactful and transformative experiences in this course, and in my life, was the opportunity to peer-coach one another. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the chance to be coached by a fellow classmate.
This experience has touched me in ways I never thought possible, leaving a lasting impact on both my personal and professional growth. It was truly life-changing, igniting a fire within me to strive for greatness and embrace the power of real change.
As I began my exciting new journey with Nurse Coaching, our youngest daughter had a few, very minor health concerns.
Gradually the number of odd symptoms increased and previous minor concerns escalated. As a nurse, a potential diagnosis had crossed my mind a few times, but my gut said, “no.” We continued to explore into what little we knew in the world of natural health. As symptoms continued despite our natural efforts, it became apparent at the collection of minor issues that were escalating over time, were indicating early onset type 1 diabetes. Despite exploring natural health options, it became clear that medical intervention were necessary. However, we were initially met with resistance and prescribed a topical steroid cream. This is when I was introduced to Quantum Nutrition Testing…
I had never heard of muscle testing before. And to be honest, I didn't really understand how it worked when I researched the topic.
However, my friend’s daughter had been working with a Quantum Nutrition Practitioner for some time and there was no denying that whatever it was – it was working! I understood less about Quantum Nutrition than I did about muscle testing. And for one of the first times in my life, it didn’t matter. I leaned heavily on my faith and that was all I needed.
Our daughter's symptoms started to improve within a few days of beginning her individualized supplement regimen.
Even symptoms I didn’t share with our practitioner, such as sleep walking.
Something she had been doing her entire life, and now suddenly stopped.
The best part – we were given an actual cause to her symptoms without invasive measures, and a pretty simple treatment plan.
I felt a connection instantly to this type of care. Our bodies are so amazing.
In nursing school I was taught a lot about how the body compensates in an acute or chronic condition, what to look for and how to treat it.
I want to teach patients how the body compensates to unwanted environmental toxins, viruses, lack of sleep, lack of proper nutrition, long term stress, etc.
So that they know how to recognize what they are feeling and why, can make lifestyle changes before the body can’t compensate anymore and it becomes another chronic illness, another diagnosis.
I want to empower patients to learn how their bodies can heal themselves when given the right support!
Although I never imagined becoming an Entrepreneur or owning my own business, but here I am doing the dang thing!
I get to serve people powerfully – discovering root causes naturally, empowering individuals to take control of their health and wellness, and guide them to become the best versions of themselves.
I feel nothing but gratitude for my journey that has lead me to where I am today.
I am passionate about natural and holistic care and doing something that is in complete alignment with my core values and beliefs.
